As one of the activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of the German School Nairobi, students, teachers and parents have organized a sponsoring event: the “Fun Run for Schools”. The run has taken place on Saturday 24th October 2009 at 2 pm, at the school`s sports field.

Who will be supported?
The German School would like to run in support of the St Augustine Learning Centre in Ruiru and help to let it realize its goals. This small school near Nairobi was founded by a Kenyan and, thus far, has not received public or any other funding. The donations will be used for the acqusition of premises for the school. For more information go to St. Augustin Learning Centre.

Fun Run: What does this mean?
The participants of the Fun Run will cover as many laps on the field tracks as possible within a certain time span. The laps are counted and the number is noted down on a sponsor`s list. After the run, each participant informs his/her sponsors about the numbers of laps completed.
Prior to the run, every participant wins as many sponsors as possible, who may be recruited among family, friends, colleagues etc. from Kenya, Germany or any other country.
These supporters agree to contribute an amount of money per lap completed by “their” athletes. This contribution can be freely determined by the sponsors in advance. By doing so, they will provide extra motivation for the runners and help supporting a Kenyan school.
