Curriculum for the Kindergarten

Adapted for the individual learning process of children aged 2 to 3 and 3 to 6 in heterogeneous, bilingual groups and the DaF groups.

 

LEARNING

Basic requirements for both the group and individual learning and teaching of the children

-Co-operation

-Independence

-Ability to develop strategies and solutions independently

-Take responsibility

 

LANGUAGE

Language Development and Communication

-Learning to listen

-Being able to express oneself

-Taking part in a conversation

-Being able to express one's own feelings and experiences, and actively participating in the classroom

-Recounting facts

-Correct usage of grammar

-Comprehension of alphabetical letters (visual and audio)

-Some recognition of phonetic sounds and syllables

 

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL EDUCATION AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

The above are in reference to the child himself, to other children, to adults, and to the role of each child in such relationships

-Treating oneself and others with respect

-Being able to deal with praise and criticism

-Learning to recognise ones feelings, and being able to express them

-Finding one's place in a group

- Handling conflicts

-Comprehending rules of belonging to a school and following them

- Values and morals

-Learning to estimate one's own merits

 

HEALTH EDUCATION

Nutrition and physical activity in a health-related context

-Getting to know one's own body

-Education on good nutrition

Experiencing one's own body, its capabilities, and developing them

Getting used to numbers through play, as well as specifically learning and understanding numbers and quantities

ENVIRONMENT, NATURE AND CULTURE

Where do I come from? Where am I living? How do others live?

-Discovering the school's environment, (the school itself, as well as its environs)

-Experiencing nature with all 5 senses

-Recognising different plants and animals

-Getting to know one's own culture, the culture we are currently living in, and the culture of others

 

EARLY YEARS SCIENCE EDUCATION

Experiment and exploring

-Recognising the 4 elements

-Getting to know various materials and their properties

-Experiencing and marvelling at different phenomena

 

MUSICAL EDUCATION

Recognition of the meaning of music in its different forms, and producing music using the body, voice and instruments

-Singing

-Listening to music

-Using music as a means to express how you feel, what you like etc.

-Recognising different music styles and different pieces

-Inventing and making music oneself

-Using music as a source of inspiration for drawing, dancing etc.

 

ARTISTIC EDUCATION AND EXPRESSION

The use of different materials, techniques and instruments, both in pre-set tasks, as well as in independent expression

-Drawing

-Learning of colours

-Painting with different media

-Creation of 2 and 3 dimensional objects

-Becoming confident in the safe use of work tools

-Getting to know various artists, their art work and their lives

 

EDUCATION IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF MEDIA

The use of technical instruments and paper media

-Discovering pictures and books, and being able to use them as a source of information

-Learning to use certain "machines" to a limited extent (e.g. CD-player, computer, camera)
