Graduation ceremony of the “Realschüler”, Class 10

Date 14/06/2013

The graduation ceremony of our three Realschüler, Isabell Srithar, Alexander Blinninger and Anna Stier took place on the 13th of June 2013.

All three students have successfully completed their Realschul-examinations (equivalent to British Ordinary Level Examinations).

On behalf of Class 10, Luka Vihuto was the Master of Ceremony. Mr Boddenberg opened the ceremony with a speech, drawing the attention of the graduates to their future, to the new challenges they would face, the new experiences they would have in Germany and in their new classes. He went on to give Isabell, Alex and Anna some advice and tips which will definitely help them to cope better with what the future holds for them.

This was followed by a somewhat more casual, emotional and amusing speech by the Class Teacher, Ms Petschl. In this speech she not only congratulated the three students on having completed their examinations, but also gave them the "10 Petschlian Commandments" to help them survive in the real world outside the school. As she explained in her speech, Ms Petschl bid farewell to her students with one laughing, and one crying eye, as both she, as Class Teacher, and the students of Class 10 will miss the three graduates very much.

The emotional highlight of the celebration was definitely the farewell of the three students by their classmates, who gave well thought-of and funny gifts to their friends. Additionally they had made collages with photographs, and composed three touching, amusing and personal texts about Alexander, Anna and Isabell. More than a few tears could be seen in the room!

To complete the ceremony, each student received a Leaving Certificate from Mr Boddenberg and Ms Petschl.

Class 10 and Ms Petschl would like to thank students in Class 9 for the beautiful decoration of the room, and the well-organised ceremony.

The German School Nairobi takes this opportunity to wish Alexander, Anna and Isabell all the best in whatever they undertake next. We will miss you.

Kerstin Petschl
