New Parallel Programme Students start at the German School Nairobi

Date 18/01/2010

After the first break, on 14th of January 2010 the headmaster Siegfried Schmerbeck welcomed the new Kenyan students of the Parallel Programme who are going to join Class 4. The whole school community gathered as the headmaster called on each of the new students to personally welcome them in English. The new students Chelsea, Celine, Rachel and Josef were given a school calendar and a German School T-Shirt which the headmaster hopes they will wear every day. He advised the attendant students to talk in German with the “new ones” to help them with their restart after a short adaptation phase.

Purity who unfortunately got held up in traffic together with her family joined the small group later on. The teachers Bettina Lammerding and Claudia Reim who are going to teach the group German greeted the students heartily. In addition to this the Parallel Programme Students are also going to attend some of Ms. Reim’s lessons in Class 4 until they are fully integrated in Class 5 after the summer holidays.

The new students spent their first school day with a tour through the school while their families were welcomed with coffee and cake by the parents’ representatives at the cafeteria. After this gentle introduction they immediately started their German classes and on the second day they could already present their first success in counting until 20 in German.
